More Photos on Instagram: Good or Bad?

Instagram announced a new feature earlier last week that’s slowly rolling out to users. Now you can add multiple photos and videos to a single post.

What does this mean?

You don’t have to post multiple times in a day. You don’t have to use a collage to show multiple pictures. You will be able to upload up to 10 photos or videos in a swipeable gallery. Essentially, you can utilize most aspects of your story into a single post now. Since your story goes away 24 hours later, you can implement similar elements of your story into a post that your followers can continue to see and interact with.

When is this happening?

Good question! It’s slowly rolling out right now. You will start seeing it on your feed and it should be included in Instagram’s newest update.

Is it good or bad?

On one hand, the more content types, the merrier. On the other hand, it can be overwhelming figuring out which Instagram element you want to use. Do you want to post to your feed or your story, or do you want to go live and not post anything at all? For now, the new feature has a low barrier to entry, so we’re going with good. We see the potential. The ability to upload more than one piece of content can help tell a story and showcase some awesome images, so you don’t have to choose only one. The swipe function is easy to use, and getting more information in one post  is never a bad thing.
We’re going to play around with the new function and report back. Stay tuned for more!
