Employee Spotlight: Libbie Miller

August 17, 2015 | By: David Foster | 2 min read

When thinking about the features needed to make great web content, many people begin talking about types of content, digital platforms, and messaging. But for LaneTerralever content strategist Libbie Miller, thinking past “what content ” and getting into “why content” is the first piece of the puzzle. This month, we're excited to highlight Libbie as the star of our Employee Spotlight.

Libbie emphasizes the importance of using content to create meaningful experiences for web users. As a member of the LT User Experience Team, she works closely with web developers and content creators to dig down to the roots of a brand and determine the most effective ways that content can provide value to consumers. According to Libbie, this ability to provide valuable content to customers is what separates content strategy from content marketing, and explains why she is so passionate about this particular field.

Libbie held many job positions inside and outside the marketing realm before realizing her affinity for content strategy and user experience. She began her marketing career as a public relations intern for a boutique agency here in Phoenix. She then moved on to do in-house social media for local companies. It wasn’t until 2010 that Libbie started taking a serious look into content strategy and in 2014, joined the team at LT.

Libbie grew up in Omaha, Nebraska, where she began her degree in communications at the University of Nebraska before heading west to California. She didn’t initially set out to become the marketing and strategy pro she is today. For ten years, Libbie worked a series of non-marketing jobs including hanging sale signs at Macy’s and doing a two-year stint as a flight attendant.

Eventually, Libbie made her way to Arizona to finish her degree at Arizona State University. After graduation, Libbie began her journey into the world of marketing and UX and has embraced every part of it since. So much so, that she has devoted her time outside of the LT office to organizing the Phoenix Content Strategy Meetup and Togetherly. Through these programs, Libbie and her team inspire digital workers to be the catalyst for long-term change in their organizations.

Libbie's adorable dogs!

When Libbie is not whipping up thoughtful strategies for top-notch clients like the Barrow Neurological Institute, or helping other Content Strategists and UX professionals deliver more meaningful content, she can be found with her wife, cruising around town looking for the best spots to grab a delicious meal and a glass of wine… or two.

If you’re in the office and run into Libbie, say hello! And if you are interested in learning more about the world of content strategy, check out the Phoenix Content Strategy Meetup and Togetherly!
